gotta be honest: I’m a late adopter when it comes to most things, and 🥑 is no exception. I grew up HATING it, then a yearish ago I finally took Chipotle up on the free guac you get when you order a vegetarian meal... and slowly but surely, this weird creamy mess of a fruit has started to grow on me. • it’s easy to fit in as a New Yorker when you have an avocado in your grocery basket. they were on sale at my neighborhood supermarket this past weekend, so I grabbed one of the last ones in the bin. five days later, after a long day at work, I came home and realized it was finally ripe, so... avocado toast for dinner? 😬 • overall a fairly slapdash effort with brown bread, tomato, chili flakes, and salt & pepper! this used half an avocado (I can still only handle a limited amount at a time lol), and I’m saving the other half for my lunch tomorrow. • moral of the story: I’m not totally opposed to paying $10 for avo toast in this city... but if I can make it for less than $2 at home? sold! 🙌🏽 . . . . . #wholefoods

On Friday mornings I teach at the gym at 530 😳 which is pretty damn early and requires me to get up at 430 to get there in time 😴 usually I’m not super hungry when I wake up but I like to eat a little something on my way into the gym... last week I was lucky enough to find one of these healthy carrot pineapple muffins stashed in my freezer and it legit made my day 🙌🏼 tomorrow morning I’m definitely not going to be that lucky in the breakfast department.... but if you make these right now you could be! 🍍🥕☺️ click @thecleaneatingcouple and click the link for the recipe!

Is there a magic food that you should eat before and after your workout?! Haha nope, no anabolic window, no magic food. Just eat some food. Let’s break down the specifics of what you want to be eating pre and post training!!🤔 - ✌️Pre workout: Protein and carbs are important pre workout, you want to be eating these but please, make sure the form of the foods you’re eating are easily digestible because you don’t want to have lots of food sitting in your stomach when you’re training. We’ve all been there, almost throwing up in the gym because you just ate. Make sure you eat like 1-3 hours before so you give your body time to absorb all of the food. If you’re not able to eat 1-3 hours before and thus you’re training fasted, get yourself some BCAA’s. - 🔥Post workout. There’s a lot of debate about this. Are carbs necessary or not? Technically they’re not really that necessary but if you really want to optimize everything you might want to add at least 30ish grams of carbs after your workout. If you’re just training for general fat loss or muscle gain, just getting 25 grams of protein will do. But again, how hard is it to eat 30 grams of carbs after your workout? Not really right? And about that anabolic window.. That’s a myth. Just make sure you eat your post workout meal as soon as you can. You’re good - ❤️Much love, Dennis - P.S.
