First climbing milkweed I've seen flowering this year. (Funastrum cynanchoides var. hartwegii)

My favorite find so far this year. The last time Salvia henryi was collected from Tortugas Mountain was by E. O. Wooton in 1894. I collected it again from presumably the same population 124 years later.
"Devil's claw" kinda hurts when it jabs into your ankles... (Proboscidea althaeifolia)

I got the green light to go surveying in the artillery test sites in the Organs. I've heard stories about unauthorized botanists getting snagged by military helicopters out here, but now I don't have to worry about it.

More corolla morpholgies from the arroyos. Nama hispida, Dimorphocarpa wislizeni, and Penstemon parryi.

Yuccas are budding/blooming. Can you tell they're related to asparagus? (Yucca treculeana)

Interesting 5 cm long corolla tubes on flaxflowered gilia. (Ipomopsis longiflora ssp. neomexicana)

Microscopic crystals in a Tradescantia cell. I think they're oxalic acid crystals?

Dwarf false-pennyroyal growing right out of the limestone on A/Tortugas Mountain and almost flowering. (Hedeoma nana)

You have to slice a tubercle and see if it bleeds milk in order to ID these lookalikes to a species level. Sorry bud... (Mammillaria heyderi ssp. meiacantha)
There's a friggin' #oryx right in front of me! This is the best I could do with my phone 😔

If we get some rain any time soon, these strawberry hedgehog cacti will have tons of 6-inch neon flowers. I haven't seen one in flower yet, but it should be surreal when it happens. (Echinocereus stramineus)

A few flower morphology observations that I never got around to posting here.
